Patrick Stewart Says His Time on 'Star Trek' Felt like a Ministry

Patrick Stewart, perhaps best known as Captain Picard in the Star Trek franchise, has died at the age of 69.

He was found dead in his home by his wife and their dog on Sunday, reports the AP.

He had been suffering from throat cancer.

Stewart, who played the Starship Enterprise captain in the sci-fi series that ran from 1983 to 2009, tells NPR that he was found by his wife and their dog.

He says he found the body while out for a walk with his wife and dog in his hometown of Long Beach, Calif., on Saturday.
