About Us
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (Innovation Center) implements its statutory mandate to test innovative payment and service delivery models.
The first Innovation Center episode-based Medicare model was the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) Initiative, which began accepting applications in 2011 and operated until 2018.
The Innovation Center currently operates the second iteration of specialized ACO models for people with kidney disease.
