The UN's Sustainable Development Goal for gender equality, represented by the color orange, aims to advance gender equality, economic growth, peace, and security, and climate resilience.
In Indonesia, it's all about orange.
The country is one of the world's most populous, with more than 260 million women and girls, and the UN estimates that by 2030, there will be 100 million more women, girls, and gender minorities around the world than there are women in the workforce.
To that end, the UN has launched the Orange Movement, an initiative to "advance gender equality, economic growth, peace, and security," and to "build an inclusive future by advancing gender equality, economic independence, health, education, and nutrition for underserved communities," per a press release.
To that end, the UN has launched the Women's Orange Bond (WLB) Series, a first-of-its-kind initiative that aims to tap into the $1.7 billion gap between what's needed for gender equality in Indonesia and what's available in the market.
IIX, a Singapore-based impact investment company, is one of the investors in the WLB Series, and the press release notes that it has helped more than 6,000 women, girls, and gender
