The Charles County Sheriff's Office in Maryland is teaming up with Charles County Public Schools to offer a life-saving program for kids in the fourth through eighth grades.
The " 2024 Youth Achievement Program," which runs for two weeks, includes lessons on self-management, conflict resolution, teamwork, leadership, gang prevention, substance abuse prevention, bullying prevention, nutrition, and personal responsibility, thebaynet.com reports.
Sheriff Troy Berry was on hand to kick off the program Monday.
"These programs include a variety of real-world life lessons covering topics such as personal responsibility, sportsmanship, decision-making, conflict resolution, communication skills, teamwork, leadership, gang prevention, substance abuse prevention, bullying prevention, nutrition, and self-management," according to the CCPS website.
The program ends June 27 with a field trip to Kings Dominion.
